Health and Education Information

EDUCATION Developmental Screens must be completed on all children within the first 45 days of enrollment. This agency uses Brigance Preschool Screen II published by Curriculum Associates for 3-4 year old children and Ages and Stages Questionnaire published by Brooks for birth to three-year-old children. An identified curriculum must be implemented. This agency uses: Creative Curriculum by Diane Trister Dodge published by Teaching Strategies for center based programming and Parents as Teachers from the Parents as Teachers National Center for the Home Based programming. The agency must assess progress for participants. This agency uses: Teaching Strategies Gold published by Teaching Strategies of Washington D.C. This agency assesses birth to 4-year old children three times per year following the Iowa Department of Education check points dates. HEALTH SERVICES Health services are provided for every child enrolled with this agency. Black Hawk Health Department is the contractor for the service delivery. Every child must be up to date on immunizations, have a current physical examination, have a current dental examination and have an identified medical and dental home. Individual health plans are written for children with special medical conditions requiring attention by trained personnel. Dentist By 1 Information on FREE well child checks and physicals offered in the community. Through the IHOPE Free Medical Clinic. As well as the ACE-SAP Free Clinic. Information on LOW COST dental care offered in the community. Through the Hawkeye Community College Dental Clinic.
